Bursary Application Flow Chart

Step 1

A student receives the bursary application forms after the Placement Test and completes the bursary application forms and submits all supporting documents/ Enrolling for N4 Engineering and Business Studies

Minimum Required Information:

  • NC(V) programme and level/ N4 Course
  • Personal details, including contact numbers, email addresses
  • SAPS Certified copy of identity document
  • Applicant’s current home address with stand/plot number.
  • Address while studying
  • Postal address
  • Salary payslip and other income information
  • Details of next of kin
  • Details of parent(s) and/or guardian(s)
  • Residential address(es) of parent(s) and or guardian(s)
  • Parent(s)’ and or guardian(s)’ salary information
  • Sworn affidavits from parents/guardians if they are unemployed
  • Proof of death if parents/guardians are deceased
  • Number of family members in the household
  • Age and educational status of members in the household.
  • An affidavit must be submitted if there are no certified supporting documents. Such affidavits are documents written or validated by the police..
  • All certified copies and affidavits should not be older than 3 months.

Step 2

All application forms must be checked thoroughly prior to being accepted.

  • Application forms with incomplete documents will not be accepted.
  • You will be immediately notified if there are any queries on your application.
  • Students receive proof of submission of the application form and supporting documents.

Step 3

The Means Test Tool is used at campus

  • The college loads the student information onto the electronic means test system within 48 hours of receiving the application.
  • The Means Test will determine whether your application is successful or declined and the amount   provisionally awarded. You will be given a date to check the status of your application..

Step 4

The Bursary Committee convenes to review and make recommendations on applications.

Step 5

Recommendation of the Financial Aid Committee forwarded to the CEO for Approval.

  • CEO reviews and approves Bursary Committee recommendations.
  • A list of successful applicants is sent to the campus to fill in the Schedule of Particulars (SoP)

Step 6

Schedule of particulars or bursary agreements should be signed by the student and the college.

  • All successful applicants will be called to sign a Schedule of Particulars (SoP), as this is the only document the college is expected to submit to NSFAS in support of its claim.
  • Only students who have been awarded bursaries are required to sign the SoP.
