Refiloe Buthelezi (Mankga)

Having spent her childhood in Limpopo, Refiloe matriculated at Seshigo High School in 1996.  To further her studies, she wanted to enrol for an IT Diploma qualification at a Technikon, but unfortunately due financial constraints, she had to enrol for Human Resources with Tshwane North College, Soshanguve Campus in 1997.

During her first year at the Campus, after entering the College beauty pageant she was crowned Miss Soshanguve Technical College.  During her spare time over weekends while still studying, she joined a Modelling agency in Johannesburg to raise school fees.

Upon completion of her studies at the College, she took on various voluntary job positions in the Finance and HR Department at Dr George Mukhari Hospital for a period of 8 months.  She later enrolled with UNISA for a B Comm Marketing degree which she later had to put on hold due to busy work schedules. This is something that she still wishes to complete at a later stage.

With a career that spans over 12 years, she has gained extensive experience in branding, communication and sales.  Refiloe has worked for various State and private sector owned entities, which include among others Statistics SA, Molapo Technology, Mutual & Federal, Protea Coin Security, Venus Africa Solutions and Ulwazi Group, (she held her last position here as the  Communication and Marketing Manager).  She has served as a Director for the Venus Africa Foundation, where she was involved in a lot of CSI programmes throughout her term.

Upon resigning from Ulwazi Group in 2010, she immediately pursued her passion in sales and marketing and formed her marketing company, called Linhleko Marketing & Consulting with offices in Pretoria East. Refiloe is married with 2 kids, Koketso and Mbalinhle. She combined the names of her son and daughter to form the consulting company Linhleko.

Refiloe admits to her first 2 years in business not being easy; she had to learn and adapt quickly to the competitive business environment in which the majority of start-ups and SMMEs failed within the first 2 years.  She had to equip herself with knowledge by reading books, most importantly the experience she has gained from her previous employers; and at the College and still maintains good relations with some of her previous employers for mentorship.

Refiloe is currently a licensed Insights Discovery Practitioner, which mostly contribute to her consulting business as a Personal Effectiveness facilitator.  She has recently been admitted to the Goldman Sachs-GIBS (Gordon Institute of Business Science) 10,000 Women Programme; a scholarship offered globally to women entrepreneurs to help them develop their business skills.

She feels very strongly in giving back to the community. Together with her 2 childhood friends she launched a foundation company, primarily focusing on the progression of young women and to help girls to positively change their lives and communities.
